An article from The Indian Express: India’s fall in fertility rate may be a boon in disguise. Here’s why
This has to be the funniest headline I've seen in a while. We are the world's most populous country, and the fall in our fertility rate is a boon in disguise? It's a boon, period.
On 6 November 2024, while returning home from my evening walk, I noticed a tempting chocolate-glazed doughnut on a shelf in a bakery. When I asked about the price, I found it was prohibitively high. Hopefully, people will avoid buying it for the sake of their wallets, if not for their waistlines.
According to Hinduism, Manu (मनु) was the first man. The terms मनुष्य and मानव literally mean "descendants of Manu."
Comparison of the ESV (English Standard Version) Bible and the NIV (New International Version) Bible
Consider Genesis 4:25
ESV: And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Seth, for she said, “God has appointed for me another offspring instead of Abel, for Cain killed him.”
knew his wife? Does any man not know his wife?
called his name Seth? What is this supposed to mean?
NIV: Adam made love to his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, “God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.”
Okay, that makes a lot more sense.
